First Time: Amazon.com (AMZN) Earned Top 10 Position in Fortune 500 Companies

The leader of the list for six years remains Walmart (WMT).

Fortune magazine published another rating of the largest companies in the US in terms of revenue. The list of the sixth consecutive year is headed by the retailer Walmart, according to the results of 2017, its sales exceeded $ 500 billion.

Competitor Walmart in retail – Amazon.com (AMZN) – for the first time entered the top 10 rating, for the year rising from 12 to eighth place and increasing annual revenue to $ 177.8 billion.

The top three of the list also included oil company Exxon Mobil (XOM) with revenues of $ 244.4 billion and Berkshire Hathaway investment group Warren Buffett, whose annual revenue was estimated at $ 242.1 billion.

Apple (AAPL) dropped out of the top 3, going down to fourth place with revenue of $ 229.2 billion. IPhone maker is the most valuable and profitable company in the list, noted in Fortune. Apple’s capitalization is estimated at $ 850 billion, its profit is $ 48 billion.

Debutant last year’s list of Tesla (TSLA) in the ranking of 2018 made the biggest breakthrough and rose to 123 positions, to 260 lines. Its annual revenue Fortune estimates at $ 11.8 billion. Next comes Netflix with revenues of $ 11.7 billion.

The Fortune 500 rating is published annually since 1955. Only 53 companies fall into the list every year and only three led it: Walmart (WMT), Exxon Mobil and Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) (BRK.B).

The total revenue of all Fortune 500 participants was $ 12.8 trillion – two-thirds of US GDP. Together, their market value is $ 21 trillion. These companies employ a total of 28.2 million employees worldwide.
